Community & Groups

The Community module provides tools for member collaboration — committees, forums, mentoring, and voting. The Groups module manages organizational governance through committees, board terms, and meeting minutes.

Committees

Navigate to Community → Committees to organize your members into working groups:

  1. Click New Committee
  2. Enter the committee name, description, and purpose
  3. Add members and assign roles (Chair, Secretary, Member)
  4. Set the committee type — standing, ad hoc, or board

Each committee has:

  • Member roster with roles and term dates
  • Meeting management — schedule meetings, record minutes, track attendance
  • Document sharing — committee-specific file storage
  • Activity feed — committee discussions and updates

Board Terms

Track board and officer positions:

FieldDescription
PositionTitle (President, Treasurer, Secretary, etc.)
MemberWho holds the position
Term Start/EndWhen the term begins and ends
StatusActive, upcoming, or expired

Navigate to Community → Board to manage current and historical board compositions.

Forums

Online discussion forums for member engagement:

  1. Create Forum Categories (e.g., "General Discussion", "Industry News", "Q&A")
  2. Members create Topics within categories
  3. Other members post Replies
  4. Moderators can pin, lock, or remove topics

Forums are accessible through the member portal and optionally embedded on your AMS website.

Mentoring

Match experienced members with newer members:

  1. Navigate to Community → Mentoring
  2. Members opt in as mentors or mentees with profile preferences
  3. The system suggests matches based on interests, industry, and availability
  4. Track mentorship progress and session logs
💡AI-powered member matching is part of The One AMS Community companion experience. Enable it in organization settings to unlock intelligent mentor-mentee pairing.

Voting and Ballots

Run elections and polls:

  1. Navigate to Community → Voting and click New Ballot
  2. Define the ballot title, candidates or options, and voting period
  3. Set eligibility — all members, specific tiers, or committee members only
  4. Open voting — members vote through the portal
  5. Close voting and publish results

Ballot results are recorded with full audit trail. Support for single-choice, multi-choice, and ranked-choice voting.
