Reviews and Ratings
MSP Collective uses a multi-dimensional review system so practitioners can share detailed, honest feedback about the tools they use. Reviews help the community make informed purchasing decisions.
The Rating System
Each review includes ratings across six dimensions:
| Dimension | Description |
|---|---|
| Overall | Your general experience with the product (1–5 stars, required) |
| Support Quality | Responsiveness and helpfulness of vendor support (1–5 stars) |
| Value for Money | Whether pricing is fair for what you get (1–5 stars) |
| Ease of Use | How intuitive the product is to learn and use daily (1–5 stars) |
| Reliability | Uptime, stability, and consistency (1–5 stars) |
| Onboarding | Quality of the initial setup and migration experience (1–5 stars) |
Reviewers also indicate whether they would recommend the product (yes/no).

- Complete the rating dimensions
- Fill in the written review fields:
- Title — A short summary of your experience
- Pros — What you like about the product

Who Can Review
- Only verified practitioner (non-vendor) accounts can submit reviews
- You can submit one review per vendor
- Reviews require a verified account with TOTP MFA enabled
Review Moderation
All reviews enter a moderation queue before appearing publicly:
- You submit a review → status becomes Pending Review
- The system runs an automated content safety check
- An admin reviews and approves or rejects with a reason
- Approved reviews become visible on the vendor's profile and in search
Responding to Reviews
Vendors can respond once to each approved review:
- Go to Vendor Dashboard → Reviews
- Find the approved review
- Click Respond
- Write your response and submit
Vendor responses appear directly below the review. A thoughtful, professional response — even to negative feedback — demonstrates that you take customer experience seriously.
Helpful Voting
Community members can vote reviews as helpful or not helpful. Each user gets one vote per review. Reviews with more helpful votes are weighted higher in the display algorithm.
Review Display
Reviews are displayed with a combination of recency and helpfulness weighting. Newer reviews with more helpful votes appear first. The review summary on vendor profiles shows:
- Average rating across all dimensions
- Total review count
- Rating distribution (how many 1-star, 2-star, etc.)
- Summary stats are cached and refresh every 5 minutes
Flagging Inappropriate Reviews
If you see a review that violates community guidelines:
- Click the Flag icon on the review
- Select the reason: spam, harassment, inappropriate, misinformation, or other
- Submit
Flagged reviews enter the admin moderation queue for investigation. See DMCA and Content Reporting for the full reporting process.
Impact on Marketplace Search
Reviews influence how listings appear in search results. Products with higher average ratings and more reviews tend to rank higher. The exact algorithm considers:
- Average overall rating
- Total number of reviews
- Recency of reviews
- Helpful vote ratio
