AI-Assisted Policy Generation
The One Legal uses AI to accelerate policy drafting. Describe your MSP's service scope, client type, or compliance requirements, and the AI generates a complete policy document for attorney review before it becomes a deployable template.
How It Works
- You describe the type of document and your MSP's context
- AI drafts a complete policy using Claude Sonnet
- Your attorney reviews the draft and makes legal adjustments
- The attorney publishes the approved policy to the template library
- You deploy the published template to clients
AI-generated policies are drafts only. They must be reviewed and approved by your retained attorney before they can be deployed to clients. Never send an AI-generated document to a client without attorney review.
Generating a Policy
Navigate to Policies → AI Generation and follow these steps:
Step 1: Select the document type
Choose from supported document categories:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Service Agreements | MSA, SOW, Service Terms |
| Data & Privacy | Privacy Policy, DPA, GDPR Notice |
| Acceptable Use | AUP, Network Policy, Device Policy |
| Employment | NDA, Employment Terms, Contractor Agreement |
| Compliance | HIPAA BAA, SOC 2 Addendum |
| Financial | Payment Terms, Late Fees Policy |
| Vendor | Third-Party Access, Vendor Agreement |
| General | Custom document type (describe freely) |
Step 2: Describe your service scope
Fill in the context fields to help the AI produce an accurate draft:
- MSP Name — Your company name for inclusion in the document
- Service Description — What services this agreement covers (e.g., "managed IT support, remote monitoring, helpdesk, and cybersecurity services")
- Client Type — Who your clients are (e.g., "small businesses in healthcare and legal industries")
- Jurisdiction — Primary jurisdiction (e.g., "State of Texas, USA")
- Special Requirements — Any specific clauses to include (e.g., "HIPAA compliance, data residency in the United States, liability cap at 12 months of fees")
Step 3: Review AI generation settings
- Tone — Professional / Plain Language / Formal
- Length — Standard / Comprehensive (comprehensive adds more detail to each section)
- Include Variables — Toggle on to have the AI insert
{{variable}}placeholders for client-specific values
Step 4: Generate
Click Generate Policy. The AI will produce the full draft in 10–30 seconds depending on document length.
Step 5: Review the draft
The draft appears in a rich text editor. You can:
- Read through the generated content
- Add inline comments for your attorney
- Edit obvious placeholders or structural issues
- Mark sections with questions for attorney review
Step 6: Submit for attorney review
Click Submit for Attorney Review. The draft is routed to your assigned attorney with your comments. The attorney will receive it in their AI Advisory queue.
Attorney Review Workflow
When your attorney opens the submitted draft:
- They see the full AI-generated document with your inline comments
- They can edit any section directly in the platform
- They can add legal notes visible only to your team
- They click Approve and Convert to Template when satisfied
- The document becomes a draft template in the Template Library
- They publish the template when it's ready for client deployment
Supported Document Types
The AI generates complete, professional drafts for all of these document types:
- Master Services Agreement (MSA)
- Statement of Work (SOW)
- Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
- Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
- Network Access Policy
- Remote Access Policy
- Incident Response Policy
- Business Associate Agreement (HIPAA BAA)
- Privacy Policy / Privacy Notice
- Cookie Policy
- Website Terms of Service
- Employee Handbook Section
- Independent Contractor Agreement
- Vendor Due Diligence Agreement
- Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Payment and Late Fee Policy
- Liability Waiver
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific about jurisdiction — Legal requirements vary significantly by state/country
- Include your liability cap preferences — AI will match the language to what you specify
- Mention client industries — Healthcare clients need different language than retail clients
- List any certifications — If you hold SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar certifications, mention them so the AI can reference them appropriately
- Iterate — If the first draft doesn't match your needs, regenerate with more specific instructions
AI Advisory (Attorney-Facing)
Attorneys have a separate AI Advisory module where they can generate legal guidance memos for MSP clients. These are published as advisory documents (not deployable policies) that MSPs can share with clients who need legal context on a specific issue.
To request an AI advisory:
- Navigate to AI Advisory in the sidebar
- Click Request Advisory
- Describe the legal question or issue
- The attorney receives the request, generates an AI-assisted advisory, reviews it, and publishes it to you
Published advisories appear in your AI Advisory section and can be shared with specific client contacts.
